Green Architecture
Green Architecture (also known as construction of green or sustainable building) refers to the structure and use processes that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient on the entire life-cycle of buildings: ranging from siting to design, construction, operation, maintenance, until renovation demolition. This effort expands and complements the function of a conventional building design that takes into account economic issues, durability, utility and comfort.
Although new technologies are constantly being developed to complement these efforts in creating the Green Building,
where the goal generally is the future of green buildings are designed to reduce the overall environmental impact on human health and the natural environment through:
- Efficient in energy use, water, and other resources
- Protecting the health and productivity of people who occupy
- Waste reduction, pollution and environmental degradation
Similar concept is natural building, which usually are on a smaller scale and tends to focus on the use of natural materials available. Other relevant discussions include sustainable design and green architecture. Meanwhile can be defined as meeting the needs of present generations without compromising the interests to meet the needs of future generations.
