College Prices Keep Going Up — But the Investment is Worth it
Year after year, tuition prices continue to increase. However, college attendance numbers are holding strong. While college prices may be rising at a consistent rate, the investment is definitely still worth it!
Studies even show that college degrees are absolutely worth the investment. For example, a study conducted by The Brookings Institute stated that a college education is a better investment than even the stock market. The study took into account the fact that a college graduate would have to give up four years of salary and has a later start on earning income; however, it didn’t take student loan debit into consideration. So why is a college education better than investing in the stock market? For the following reasons:
- Having a college degree boosts the odds of your finding a job
- Having a college degree boosts the odds of your making more money
- A four-year college degree has the same benefits as an investment that returns 15.2% per year (Any serious investor will tell you that’s a great return on investment!)
Other studies have shown that a college graduate earns over $20,000 annually more than someone that only graduated from high school. Over the course of your lifetime, the averages say that you’ll earn $1,000,000 more if you have a bachelor’s degree than a person that can only wave his or her high school diploma.
So there are just a few reasons why a college education is worth the investment—and we’ve only covered the financial reasons. What other reasons can you come up with as to why a college degree is worth the investment and debt that may go along with it?
